The Amor 3 Day Trip

Whether you want to come with a group, your family, or by yourself – we want to partner with you! Over 3 days you’ll get to meet new people, interact with local community leaders, eat authentic Mexican cuisine, and build a home alongside a family in need.

Once you meet us in San Diego, we will provide all transportation to, throughout, and from Mexico. Tents are provided at our secure campground, authentic meals are made through our food service program La Cocina, and all the tools and materials you need will be waiting for you at the worksite – just bring your passport and belongings!

Who can come?
All ages are welcome! However, if you’re under 18, you must either attend with a legal guardian or with anyone age 18 or older willing to take responsibility for you.

See below for dates, pricing, and how to register. If you have any questions, please email Emily at earnold@amor.org or call her at 619-719-8443.

Keep in mind that on this trip, a valid passport is required.

What to Expect

At the Worksite

  • An expert from Amor will be with you on site to guide the building process.
  • It’s easy to think that the house is the most important part of the trip, but we are really here to love and serve people. Take time to talk to the family (even if you don’t know Spanish!), play with kids, or invite people to join in the work!
  • All of the tools are provided.
  • Discover that you can make a big impact in a few days!

At Camp

  • La Cocina, our catering service run by locals, provides us with meals for the weekend. They cook their own recipes and take care of meals, snacks, coffee, water, and Gatorade.
  • Camp caretakers watch the people and things at camp 24/7. Amor staff members will be with the group both at camp and at the worksite.
  • The experience at camp is very similar to how the families live – pit toilets (a port-a-potty over a hole in the ground) and bucket and/or solar showers.
  • Each night we have time to share about the day around the campfire and hear from leaders in the community.
  • We provide the tents. You are responsible for sleeping bags and sleeping pads. Married couples and parents/kids will be put together unless you request different arrangements.
