Amor Border Project

For nearly half a century, Amor has been serving alongside the local church to radically change the lives of the poor and marginalized in Mexico’s border regions. More than ever, we are being asked why circumstances are so dire and how we have arrived at this point in history.

The Amor Border Project is a new Amor Trip to help answer those questions through curating experiences that broaden our understanding of the complexities of life in Mexico’s border region, while sitting at the feet of those committed to serve vulnerable and marginalized.

Tentative Itinerary

Both the trip dates and duration of the trip can be flexible

Day 1 –  Arrival Day
  • Arrive in San Diego
  • Shuttle to Old Town Transit Station
  • Trolley to San Ysidro Border
  • Traverse Border on foot
  • Meet Amor Staff and drive to Sleep Inn Hotel
  • Check-in
  • Dinner
  • Plans/Expectations/Daily Debrief
Day 2 – The Walk, Centro, El Muro
  • Breakfast at Hotel
  • Santuaria de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe – The impact of religion (positive and negative) on society
  • Movimento Juventud 2000 – Voices of migrants
  • Lunch at Telefonica – Food Trucks, Please bring cash to buy your own lunch
  • The Wall  – The things that divide
  • Playas de Tijuana – A moment to reflect
  • Return to Hotel
  • Dinner and Debrief

  • Walk through San Ysidro Port of Entry
